Family Dispute Mediation Services

Here’s how I can support you and your family when things have become difficult.

My aim is to provide a calm, friendly and straightforward approach, helping everyone have the conversations they need to find a way forward that works for them.

My approach

Mediation can help you understand each other’s perspectives, identify what you agree on and work through the areas where you don’t. Where an agreement is reached, I’ll help you record it clearly, so everyone understands what has been decided.

And where some matters remain unresolved, we’ll make sure those differences are clear too. This can help you move forward with greater clarity, avoid unnecessary discussions and focus any further steps only where they’re needed.

When family relationships become difficult

Not every family disagreement is about separation, divorce or children.

Sometimes the difficulty is between brothers and sisters. You may disagree about the care of an ageing parent, how responsibilities should be shared, what happens to a family property or how an inheritance is dealt with.

Perhaps an adult child and parent have fallen out, family members have become estranged, or there is disagreement about an important family decision, such as a wedding or other major life event.

These situations can be deeply personal, particularly when there is a long history between you. Mediation provides a calm and impartial space to have the conversation, understand what matters to each person and explore whether a way forward can be found.

You don't have to be married, separated or involved in a court case for mediation to help. If a family relationship has become difficult and you're struggling to find a way forward, mediation may be worth considering.

Mediation for wider family disputes

Family mediation isn't just for separating couples. I can also help when conflict or disagreement arises between other family members, providing a calm and structured space to have conversations that may otherwise feel difficult or impossible.

This could include adult siblings disagreeing about the care or future of a parent, a parent and adult child struggling to agree about important family decisions, such as wedding plans, or a partner and adult child trying to rebuild a relationship following a period of estrangement.

My role isn't to decide who is right or to force people to agree. Instead, I help everyone have their say, understand what matters to the others involved and explore practical ways forward that everyone can live with.

Family disagreements aren't always about separation. Sometimes brothers and sisters find themselves unable to agree about important family decisions, particularly when emotions, money or long-standing family dynamics are involved.

This could be disagreements about inheritance or family property, financial arrangements, family responsibilities or what happens to important family possessions. Sometimes a particular event brings old tensions to the surface, or siblings who have become estranged want to explore whether they can find a way to move forward.

Mediation provides a safe and structured space for siblings to talk openly, understand each other's concerns and explore practical ways forward. My role isn't to decide who is right, but to help you have the conversation and see whether an agreement can be reached.

Disagreements about caring for a parent

When a parent gets older and needs more care or support, families can find themselves facing difficult decisions. Siblings may have very different views about what is best for their parent, even when they all want the same thing.

You may disagree about where your parent should live, what care they need, who should take responsibility, how that responsibility should be shared or how the costs should be met.

My role as a mediator is to provide a neutral and structured space where everyone can have their say, understand each other's concerns and work towards practical solutions that everyone can live with. I won't decide who is right, but I can help you have the conversations that may otherwise feel difficult to have.
